Luke 23,44-49

Jesus confided in the power of God while he was dying. With the words from
Psalm 31,5:

„ Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O Lord, the God of trust.”

The beating of the breast by the pagan captain is an expression of grief and remorse. Jesus is explicitly acknowledged by him as a just man . This is no Christian confession but the opinion of an impartial man.
